Edward Ruggeri has over 15 years of experience in the field of environmental law, environmental criminal law, health and safety, energy law, food law and ESG.
He regularly appears before Courts for issues concerning air emissions, IPPC, water discharges, environmental impact assessment, waste management and site remediation.
He advises a number of clients (both domestic and international) on projects of national/EU significance, such as regasification plants, refineries, as well as power plants fuelled by conventional and renewable sources. This activity also includes day by day assistance on the management of the installations, with particular regard to compliance with the applicable rules and regulations (e.g. waste, asbestos, IPPC, clean-up issues, etc).
Furthermore, he has gained significant experience on administrative procedures for granting permits concerning oil and gas exploration and exploitation and critical raw materials.
Edward has acquired a strong experience in complex environmental criminal proceedings, also in the context of industrial agglomerations.
He has also developed a broad experience in ESG related matters, such as GHG emission reduction agreements, compliance with F-gas rules and regulations, support in developing ESG strategies/policies, green claims, packaging and labelling, together with climate litigation.
Edward graduated in Law from the Florence University and holds an LLM on EU and Environmental Law from University College London.
He regularly contributes to environmental publications and lecturers at post-graduate environmental law courses, most recently at Bocconi and Luiss Universities.
Edward is mentioned in The Legal 500 as one of “the best environmental administrative professionals in Italy”.
He is a member of the Milan Bar.
